@slump

Settle a sprite down with a slight lean - a gesture of defeat or resignation.

Use @slump to lower a shown sprite and add a slight lean before it returns to rest. The gesture suggests defeat, disappointment, or resignation after a line or a reveal.

Lower intensity for a weary response or raise it for a heavier reaction. A short duration fits a quick exchange; a longer one gives the gesture more time to settle.

The story waits for the gesture by default. Set wait=false when the next event should begin during the movement. Check combinations of motion effects on the same sprite in playback, since their combined movement can change the gesture's meaning.

Parameters

ParameterKindRequiredDefaultNotes
targetstringyes""Sprite tag to target.
intensitynumberno0.70-1 × multiplier. Default 0.7.
durationnumberno0.450.2-1.5 seconds. Default 0.45.
waitbooleannotrueBlock for the effect's duration when true; false fires and continues so effects can overlap.

Canonical example

sprite show ada
say "Ada": "...I give up."
@slump(target=ada)

@slump settles the sprite that target matches downward with a slight lean, then eases home. It reads as defeat or resignation - the air going out of a character - without swapping the sprite's state image.

intensity scales how far the settle travels (0.7 is the everyday default); duration is how long it runs. Keep both modest so the gesture reads as body language, not a glitch.

Notes

@slump is a Pixi-stage gesture effect - a one-shot reaction that returns the sprite exactly where it started.
