How do I change the music in a scene?

Last reviewed Wed Nov 04 2026 00:00:00 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time)

Short answer: Music is an event in your timeline. Click the pencil on its row, then Change music, and pick a track. To add music where there is none, click Add event, open Audio, and pick Play under Music. It saves on its own.

Change a track

  1. Find the music row in the timeline and click its pencil.
  2. Click Change music.
  3. Pick a track and confirm.

The settings panel also holds how the track starts, how far it plays, its volume, and whether it loops.

Add music

  1. Click Add event at the end of the timeline, or the + between any two rows to start the music at that spot.
  2. Open Audio.
  3. Under Music, pick Play, then choose a track.

Music that started earlier

Music keeps playing across scenes. If a track started in an earlier scene, the timeline shows it at the top as carried in, with a link to the scene that started it. Change it there, or start a different track in this scene.

When the track doesn't exist yet

In the picker, click Todo and describe the track, for example "tense low strings, 90 bpm". Your scene keeps a placeholder, and the project's To-dos page lets you generate or upload the track later.

Let Aldus show you

Ask Aldus "how do I change the music?" and press Show me on the card. Forge highlights each control in turn on your own scene. You can also just tell Aldus what you want and apply the edit it writes up.
